Got questions about EarthProtein products? We have got some of them covered here.
EarthProtein laddus are now available in three flavours. The Ragi & Seeds laddu has a noticeable sweetness and an earthy flavour from ragi. The Peanut & Seeds laddu has a nice nutty flavour with a subtle sweetness. The Cacao & Seeds has a more sophisticated flavour, combining the complex flavours of natural cacao with a depth from seeds.
Jaggery + ghee make a better binder than dates for a laddu or a bar (the reason why traditional laddus and chikkis have jaggery as the sweetener).
Most date-sweetened snacks have 30% dates + a fat, or 40% or more dates (without a fat), making the snack more about dates than the other ingredients.
We use 10-15% jaggery + <10% ghee, which helps us pack more nutrient-dense seeds per laddu, giving you better value for your money.
Absolutely! EarthProtein laddus are an excellent, natural, and whole-food-based replacement for protein bars. Plus, they come in travel-friendly packaging so that you can have them on the go!
Most people assume that since jaggery has a higher glycemic index than dates, it is as bad as refined sugar. This is true if you simply compare eating a spoonful of jaggery with eating a date.
But in any food preparation, your concern should be glycemic load, not glycemic index. When a food preparation has fiber, fat, and protein from the other ingredients, irrespective of the sweetener, the sugar spike will be considerably lower.
What matters in such a situation is the sugar load. For example, our sweetest laddu has 15% jaggery while the healthiest date-sweetened snack has 30% dates.
25g Laddu with 15% Jaggery
Total jaggery = 3.75g
Remaining 21.25g = seeds, nuts, healthy fats, fiber, protein
25g Snack with 30% Dates
Total dates = 7.5g
Remaining 17.5g = seeds, nuts, healthy fats, fiber, protein (if used)
That means the date-based snack delivers significantly more sugar per bite (twice).
We do not market our laddus as a “diabetic product.” However, they are formulated to have less sugar than a date-sweetened snack.
EarthProtein laddus are made with whole foods in their natural form. Seeds, peanuts, and ghee are very high in healthy fats that contain more calories per gram than carbohydrates, but they also provide longer-lasting energy and better satiety. So while the calorie number may look high, those calories are nutrient-dense and functional — not empty.
Low-calorie-high-protein snacks are often engineered chemically. Whole foods have a different composition altogether.
